Heyfield Traders & Tourism Association will conduct the 3rd Great Victorian Camp Oven Festival in conjunction with Heyfield Lions club.  The annual event is held to raise the profile of Heyfield as the gateway to the Victorian alps thereby increasing tourism to Heyfield and surrounding districts, improving economic opportunities for the businesses of the area and creating fundraising opportunities for local community groups.

Plans are well underway for the 2009 Great Victorian Camp Oven Festival to be held on Saturday 31st of October at the Gordon St Reserve in Heyfield.

In 2008 over 2000 people attended the festival which came from all over Victoria with some visitors from interstate.  Our aim is to grow the event to attract more interstate visitors and to rival the larger Camp Oven Cooking Festivals held in Queensland and northern New South Wales.

This year the Great Victorian Camp Oven Festival will introduce food and wine tastings and sales along with the regular activities which include camp oven cooking competitions, rides and activities for children, camping related displays, a ute muster, bush poetry and country music featuring Lee Forster and Adam Kilpatrick.  On site camping will be available to those who want to bring their caravan, motorhome or tent.

Camping will be available at the Gordon St Reserve in Heyfield.  Camping fee is $10/night per site. No power available (campers can bring own generators). Toilets & showers provided.
