Heyfield Traders & Tourism Association, in conjunction with Heyfield Lions have secured the Great Victorian Camp Oven Festival as an annual event to raise the profile of Heyfield as the gateway to the Victorian alps thereby increasing tourism to Heyfield and surrounding districts, improving economic opportunities for the businesses of the area and creating fundraising opportunities for local community groups.
Plans are well underway for the 2008 Great Victorian Camp Oven Festival to be held on Saturday 1st November, 2008 at the Gordon St Reserve in Heyfield.
Despite last year’s weather conditions a large crowd turned out to see a variety of events and this year ‘s festival will not disappoint.
The festival will partner with the Lake Glenmaggie boat races being held on Sunday 2nd November and courtesy buses will be available from each of the main camping grounds and caravan parks so people can enjoy the array of entertainment available including community market, camping and cooking displays, Lions Derby Day Auction, Ute Show, carnival rides, whip cracking and country music.
Camping will be available at the Gordon St Reserve in Heyfield. Groups or individuals can bring their own generators if they need power for camping.
